TMN launches a new SMS MicroCommunities service in Portugal with Alcatel’s Mobile Kiosk solution

Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) and TMN today announced TMN’s launch of its new mobile SMS MicroCommunities service in Portugal, enabling end-users to create their own SMS communities and to join other private communities through TMN’s i9 mobile portal. This new solution is based on Alcatel’s Mobile Kiosk, which allows content aggregation and service delivery in a hosted and operated mode, integrated with the TMN i9 portal.

TMN’s SMS Microcommunities service allows subscribers to send SMS messages to a group of friends or to any member of their community, and to create their own SMS alerts. For example, by simply sending one SMS, the captain of a football team can notify the whole team about the next game, or a surfer can be updated daily of the surf conditions at his favorite beach and share the information with a community of friends. Community members can create, subscribe to, and interrupt the service simply by sending SMS messages to the number 3888.
