Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that it has been selected by TelefГіnica to deliver and integrate its Presence Server project, enabling users to define easily their reachability: what to do with incoming communications based on the originator, the time of the day, their location, or any other information which could impact their availability. With this project TelefГіnica will be able to add this level of intelligence to all its applications.

Once implemented, communication services such as instant messaging, video mailbox, push-to-talk and push-to-view, click-to-call, or instant collaboration, both in fixed and mobile communications will benefit from this new capabilities based on the information, control and intelligent management of location, presence and availability of users.

Pre-established and configurable levels of presence (available, in-a-meeting, unavailable, reachable only by messaging, for family, community, colleagues, etc.) enable to define and identify priority messages and appropriately redirect incoming phone calls to a colleague, alternate application (voice mail, instant messaging) or device, whether fixed or mobile.

As part of Telefónica’s Presence Project, Alcatel-Lucent will provide the IMS Presence Server, as well as the integration in Telefónica’s core and the maintenance services. This platform enables a virtually instant creation of new attractive services that combine most of the multimedia capabilities offered by service providers.

The new IMS-based services are typical innovative user-centric applications that address end-users demand for blended and personalized communication services, the possibility to share community content and new ways of communicating with friends or family in remote locations, in a seamless fashion, regardless the access or device.

HUAWEI Technologies has been selected by the world-leading telecom operator TelefГіnica as the key provider for Vivo, the largest mobile telecommunications operator in the South Hemisphere, to construct a 3G-oriented GSM network. This signifies that the strategic collaboration between TelefГіnica and HUAWEI has been elevated to a new phase, and recognizes that HUAWEI’s innovative wireless solutions are able to meet strict requests of any high-end markets.

The TelefГіnica VIVO GSM project entails constructing the largest GSM network for 2006 in Latin America. According to the contract, HUAWEI will construct GSM networks for the most economically developed states along the coastline in Brazil, including Rio de Janeiro, EspГ­rito Santo, ParanГЎ, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, which cover world-famous tourist cities such as Rio de Janeiro. Thousands of HUAWEI’s Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) will be deployed in the first phase of the contract.

The entire network constructed by HUAWEI will adopt its EnerG GSM solution featuring 2G/3G compatibility and new generation GSM stations, outfitted with equipment that is capable of smooth evolution to 3G. This way, HUAWEI helps the operator to maximize their value and profit by lowering long-term network construction costs and network life-cycle operational & maintenance expenditure.

Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that it has been selected by TelefГіnica de Espana to provide access, aggregation and optical networking solutions, enabling TelefГіnica to offer high bandwidth interactive services to its consumer and corporate customers.

The integrated and flexible architecture will provide higher bandwidth capacity per subscriber with unique differentiated quality of services, enabling the simultaneous delivery of personalized multimedia services such as IPTV, video on demand and HDTV to residential customers and advanced virtual private network services for its corporate customers.

For broadband access, Alcatel will provide its 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) platform, the first high bandwidth IP access platform with xDSL interfaces ranging from ADSL 2+ to the latest VDSL2, and specifically designed to deliver a range of interactive services such as video on demand, IPTV, high-definition TV or high-speed Internet access to all users simultaneously. TelefГіnicawill be able to offer any service from any equipment port, and will combine multiple real-time applications in the network with a guaranteed quality of service.

In the aggregation network, the Alcatel 7450 Ethernet Service Switch will enable TelefГіnica to offer corporate access services and virtual private networks based on MPLS, on a national level. The solution’s unique hierarchical quality of service (H-QoS) capabilities mean that TelefГіnicacan differentiate the traffic it carries, guaranteeing varying classes of service levels, and optimizing bandwidth. As well, the Alcatel 7450 supports multiple service types with tremendous scale and quality of service, which guarantees that stringent Service Level Agreements (SLAs) on business-critical data applications can be met.

For the transport network, Alcatel will provide its dense and coarse WDM optical networking equipment to deliver triple play services, Storage Area Network (SAN) extension and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Based on its 1692 Metrospan Edge and 1696 Metrospan, the Alcatel WDM solution enables to multiply up to 32 times the capacity of the rings to transport all types of signals with guaranteed security and quality of service.
