Vodafone Czech Republic: New services at the Yourmode portal

Vodafone Czech Republic customers are gaining access to another appealing service through the Yourmode portal. Practical postcard delivery, a comics portal, automobile pages, public transport schedules, light erotica with a fine assortment of the most beautiful girls, and vacation offers have been created for the summer.

“A brand new feature that we are offering through the Yourmode portal is the ‘Post for Everybody’ service, in the scope of which customers can take pictures and send them to the corresponding server together with the addressee’s information and text. Czech post will then make a colour printout of the postcard, which it will then send to the requested address. All of this only costs CZK 30. Customers who are spending their holidays somewhere by the sea can easily send an MMS from their mobile phones and their friends and family back home will receive an original, personalised postcard,” says Bernd Scheed, Vodafone CR Marketing Director for Customer Relations.

In the Trips section, customers can choose from the latest offers from travel agencies, including last-minute offers. Public transport schedules are another important aid while on vacation; they are easily accessible directly on a mobile phone through Yourmode. In the event that a customer wants to procure their own means of transportation, they can get inspired in the new Autoforum section, where a fine selection of vehicles is parked.

Other new Yourmode features include:

* Playboy Bikini – offers the opportunity to vote for the most beautiful swimsuit babes
* Harry Potter – exciting content for fantasy buffs
* ESO – hit parade portal
* Comics – younger generations are sure to enjoy the Golden Comics portal
* Handy games – a portal full of challenging games, specially prepared for long summer nights

Yourmode is a supplemental portal that Vodafone CR is offering concurrently with the Vodafone live! brand. Among other reasons, it is advantageous thanks to the fact that, in comparison with similar portals in other countries, it is among the most well-developed. The portal is open to the developers’ community in the Czech Republic, but recently a growing number of mobile content providers have been showing an interest in it.

The name “Yourmode” reflects the portal’s openness and the fact that it has been structured practically according to the wishes of Czech customers. It offers applications that are tailored to the wishes of WAP users. It can be accessed by anybody whose mobile has any kind of WAP application.

Czech: Vodafone to continue making data services available to a wide range of people

Vodafone Czech will continue spreading EDGE technology to other cities. From June 1, the mobile operator augmented its signal in cities covered so far and, on top of this, citizens in newly covered cities will also be able to download data through EDGE technology.

At present 30% of the population can download data 3x faster than they can through the use of GPRS technology. This applies to citizens of Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc, Hradec KrГЎlovГ©, ДЊeskГ© BudД›jovice, Pardubice, Pilsen, Carlsbad Springs, Liberec, ГљstГ nad Labem, Opava, Chomutov, Jihlava, FrГЅdek-MГstek, Jablonec nad Nisou, TЕ™inec, KolГn and ProstД›jov.

“All of the above-mentioned cities have 90% coverage and communities can count on further expansion. We want data services to be available to the widest possible range of customers. Therefore we are continuing to invest into this technology,” says Martin HorДЌiДЌka, the Director of Vodafone Roaming and Core Services.

The average customer using EDGE technology downloads 2x more data than the average customer does using GPRS technology.

Thanks to the launch of EDGE technology and the introduction of the Connect Steady tariff, since March 1 of last year data transfers in the Vodafone network have risen by nearly 1,900%.

A map of EDGE technology coverage, together with an overview of all the places where it is available, can be found at http://www.vodafone.cz/business/why/network/check/edge.htm.
