Skype Teams with Motorola
Skype continues to push into the wireless space. The Internet communications company is teaming with Motorola to unveil the Motorola Talk & Tunes Wireless Internet Calling Kit.
The kit, according to the companies, is designed to enable Skype customers wirelessly listen to music and manage calls over the Internet simultaneously from a PC using Bluetooth technology.
The Talk & Tunes kit consists of the Motorola Bluetooth Stereo Headphones HT820 and the Bluetooth PC Adapter PC850.
In February, Top Global announced a 3G Mobile wireless Skype solution based on the company’s 3G MobileBridge platform. Top Global has developed and patented the MobileBridge platform, which serves as a gateway/router that links 3G and WLAN/LAN networks. Unlike other Skype devices that must connect with a PC, Top Global says its 3G mobile wireless Skype MobileBridge will work anywhere within cellular coverage.
The companies are making the announcement at the CTIA Wireless trade show in Las Vegas set to get underway on Wednesday. At the show, Motorola also plans to showcase its end-to-end CDMA 1X EV-DO Revision A solution. As part of its planned demonstration, Motorola says it will showcase some of the advanced multimedia wireless broadband services that will be possible with this next-generation technology with over-the-air calls using a prototype CDMA 1X EV-DO Rev. A handset.
