Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced today that it was ranked no. 6 in the Top 500 Manufacturers List by the National Bureau of Statistics of China. Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd. is the only foreign company that makes its way into the top 10.
The top 500 manufacturers in China were selected based on their 2005 sales figures. According to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, Motorola has recorded sales of RMB73.6 billion in 2005.
China is the largest production base for Motorola worldwide. Supplying top-quality mobile phones, two-way radios and wireless communication equipment to Chinese and global customers, Motorola’s Tianjin manufacturing base has recently celebrated the rollout of its 200 million handset. Due to its strong performance in China, Motorola has received awards for Top 500 Enterprises and the Most Influential Global Companies, among others, in 2005.
