Leading Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo today said it would start selling Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry handheld devices to its corporate customers from the autumn.
DoCoMo will provide the devices to further meet corporate users’ needs for mobile business solutions, the company said. BlackBerry Enterprise Server software integrates with Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino and Novell GroupWise, and enables secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.
The BlackBerry handheld devices to be sold in Japan will operate on both WCDMA and GSM/GPRS networks and will be useable around the world for voice and packet communications.
I’ve been wondering when Blackberry would finally make it over to Japan. I’m surprised that DoCoMo picked up on this… I was actually expecting Vodafone to get in on the Blackberry craze first. I expect this will make the already long hours of the typical salaryman even longer!
