China Mobile expands Huawei contract

The rapidly expanding Huawei has won a contract with China Mobile to expand its GSM contract to provide mobile softswitch with a 30 million subscriber-capacity and more than 30 thousand TRXs in the second half of this year.

In a statement, China Mobile said it selected Huawei over numerous competitors because of “its strength in providing advanced technologies”.

The pair cooperated previously on the world’s first 3GPP R4 mobile softswitch network.

According to the contract, Huawei will provide the EnerG GSM solution designed by 3G technology to help China Mobile maximize its profits by lowering network construction costs. The company will also provide its new generation GSM dual density BTS which, it claims, can increase coverage by 20 per cent while saving 20 per cent in power consumption.

Germany: Vodafone Racing DJs ‘pumped up the volume’ to the delight of fans

Schumacher and Massa spun the Vodafone turntable

The two Formula 1 drivers were determined to squeeze in a trip to Heidelberg between their training laps and the official press conference for the German Grand Prix on Hockenheim Ring so that they could meet their fans and thank them for their support this season. The fan event was initiated by mobile communications provider and Scuderia Ferrari sponsor, Vodafone. On the full crowded Karlsplatz fans, TV and press teams waited along with RTL presenter Kai Ebel for the racing duo to arrive. Kai Ebel started the event by interviewing the two Formula 1 drivers. Then the stage show started. Racing DJs Schumacher and Massa presented the new Vodafone Radio DJ lifestyle feature that enables music fans to compile their very own radio programme on their mobile phone or PC. Michael commended “to experience Radio DJ on the phone was lots of fun! This weekend we hope to keep up the fight and continue to close up the gap in the championship”.

The racing drivers proved that they are nearly as much at home with music tracks as they are on the race track when they took instruction in the art of scratching, mixing and transforming from professional DJs. They also had the opportunity to spin the turntable themselves. To the delight of their fans and other onlookers, Michael Schumacher persuaded his team colleague to take part in a football contest on the Vodafone stage. They both delivered a first-rate demonstration of football tricks. Backed by hip club music, the Racing DJs proved that they’ve got rhythm in their blood and excellent ball control. “Dance and football was a great mix, people loved it. I think I have a second job now”, said Felipe. Available on Radio DJ are Michael’s and Felipe’s favourite song collections.
